Philip Broome Legacy Scholarship

UFA TO RENAME THE FALL CLASSIC TOURNAMENT
Philip Broome Legacy Fall Classic

United Futbol Academy is pleased to announce that we continue to honor the legacy of long-time UFA coach, Philip Broome. Philip brought a lot to the game of soccer in this community and the club feels that an annual remembrance of him is one way that we can honor his memory.

In addition to being a loving coach, family man, community leader and motivator, Philip was a big figure in the sports community. He made a lasting impact both on and off the field, winning state championships and winning the hearts of the parents and players alike. His infectious personality and charisma is truly missed. We can’t think of a better way of honoring his legacy than holding the Philip Broome Legacy Fall Classic each year.

The tournament will give $5,000 from the proceeds to the Philip Broome Legacy Scholarship fund. UFA high school seniors preparing for college are eligible to apply for this scholarship and a winner will be selected by the Broome Family to the player who best demonstrates their leadership and motivational skills both on and off the field, as did Coach Philip.

Deadline to apply: November 30th. The chosen recipient will be announced at the UFA Senior Celebration.

The Philip Broome Legacy Fall Classic tournament will be held on November 18-19, 2023. Registration is open and more information may be found on our website.

About Coach Philip Broome

Philip Michael Broome, of Cumming, Georgia, a loving family man, community leader, coach, public speaker, and motivator passed away unexpectedly at the age of 49 on July 19th, 2022.

Raised in Houston, TX, Philip was a star athlete in soccer and football at Eisenhower High School.  His talents extended beyond the sports arena as he was also a gifted stage performer, starring in various high school and college theater productions. After graduating from Rivier University in Nashua, NH, Philip relocated to Alpharetta, Georgia. In 1999, while both working for the YMCA, a mutual friend introduced Philip to the love of his life, Linda, and in 2002, they were married. Philip and Linda went on to have three beautiful children, Hunter, Hayden and Hailey.

Immediately becoming a staple in the North Fulton community, Philip served the cities of Alpharetta and Milton in various aspects of recreation and parks, all while having an infectious positive influence on every life he touched. Philip coached boys and girls soccer and football at Milton High School and also served as a paraprofessional supporting students with special needs. Philip made a lasting impact both on and off the field, winning state championships in football and soccer and winning the hearts of the parents and students alike. On top of his high school involvement, he was also an integral part of the coaching staff at United Futbol Academy.

Outside of his community and coaching involvement, Philip enjoyed playing golf, home improvement projects, boating on Lake Lanier, grilling with family and watching all sports, especially The University of Oklahoma teams. His biggest love of all was his family. Philip preached the importance of having a close-knit family and was the most boisterous parent at his kids soccer games and school endeavors.

Philip loved playing practical jokes and had an amazing wit. He had a sarcastic sense of humor often creating nicknames for his players and friends. To know him was to love him, and by extension, be motivated by his positive influence and uplifting personality. Philip emphasized the importance of leaving a legacy with all of his student-athletes, not just in athletics but in the classrooms, community and their homes as well. He embodied all that is brilliant with leadership and defined what a true legacy should resemble. A living legend gone too soon.
